Divorced, Desperate and Deceived by Christie Craig. The last of her D,D and D series. A fun read with some real laugh until you cry parts. I especially liked one of the minor (sometimes) characters named Joey.
DreamDark: Silksinger by Laini Taylor. A YA fantasy. Second in a series.Has two new hero/heroines as well as the return of the crew from the first book.
Me and My Shadow by Katie MacAlister. Another of her silver dragons book. A fun read but definitely adult in nature. No, its not that racy, just more mature than the DreamDark books.
Red's Hot Honky-Tonk Bar by Pamela Morsi. This book isn't precisely Christmas themed but does cover the season near the end of its timeline. The Red of the title is nobodies idea of a grand mother. But she is one and finds herself unexpectedly responsible for her daughter's two kids. It is definitely a learning experience for everybody. A very good book.

High Tea and Lattes
Royal Flush by Rhys Bowen. An interesting mystery set in the early 1930's starring Lady Georgianna, daughter and sister of a Duke, great grand daughter of Victoria and 34th on line for the throne. She's also flat broke. Lady Georgianna has a habit of getting entangled in murderous plots. Now she is trying to figure out whether the accidents happening to her royal cousins are really accidents. A fun read with a cameo appearance by the future Queen Elizabeth.
Another Coffeehouse mystery, Holiday Grind by Cleo Coyle. A good story even if your not that into gourmet coffee. If you are there's more than 80 pages of coffee related recipes in the back of the book. The heroine wouldn't be amused by my use of single serve coffee bags.

Scotish Puns and sword jockeys
Scone Cold Dead by Kaitlyn Dunnet. Second in a series set in Moosetookalook, ME. A pretty good mystery. The puns not bad either.
Burn Me Deadly by Alex Bledsoe. Second in a series also. Sort of a medeval private eye in a fantasy world with just a touch of magic. Just as good as the first and that was great.

Moosetookalook, ME and Dreamdark
I would have probably have chosen to read Kilt Dead by Kaitlyn Dunnett if I had noticed the location of the crime scene. You've got to love a name like that.
Actually I was intrigued by the Scottish theme.A book about a Scottish dancer, Highland Fairs in rural Maine and a punning title. What's not to like. At any rate I'm reading Dunnett's Scone Cold Dead after I post this.
I read Faeries of Dreamdark: Blackbringer by Laini Taylor next. This is a YA title. The book is a good one and I'll be reading the next one soon; Dreamdark: Silksinger.
The next comment is grossly unfair to the story, which as I said is good, but... Wouldn't it be nice if instead of nameless, formless monsters that swallow everyone in their path somebody created one that stuffed people to death?
Wait! Don't they call that Thanksgiving?

Murder al la Computer
All except the last of these books are by a favorite author of mine: Donna Andrews. Her books You've Got Murder, Click Here for Murder, Access Denied and Delete All Suspects are re-reads. They feature Turing Hopper an AIP (Artificial Intelligence Personality) as the sleuth, aided by her human friends Tim and Maude. An interesting premise and both believable and enjoyable. The series seems to have stopped at four books although another is hinted at .
The Sexiest Dead Man Alive by Jane Blackwood is a romantic comedy. An OK read.

The Voyage by David Drake
A hard SF by an author I've read before. On some of his books he bases his plots on mythological stories. This one is a riff on the Argonauts. Of its nature a little episodic. Not a bad read but I'm not to fond of stories where anything goes as long as it gets you what you want. Even if you feel bad about it latter.

We'll Try This Again
I finally figured out (I'm a little slow sometimes) that the reason I let the book list pile up was because I found the idea of commenting on every book and author and researching and posting links to be a chore.
Then it dawned on me that if you (the hypothetical reader of this journal) wanted to know more about an author all they had to do was google them. Well duh!
So I'm not going to do that any more. At least not often.
Strong Spirits by Alice Duncan
Fledgling by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. This is going to be one of the exceptions. Their web site is here: www.korval.com/ Fledgling started out life as an experiment in reader supported web serialization. The story was posted week by week as it was written and as long as donations kept coming. The book was finished with more left over for another book! As presented on line it was the first draft of a book that might never appear on dead trees. It has made it to print and is well worth reading. You don't have to have read the first draft to enjoy this Liaden side story. The "left over parts" will be published as Saltation next year. (This was also serialized.) The story line is scheduled to rejoin the main Liaden universe plot line in a future book Ghost Ship.
Lost & Found by Jayne Ann Krentz
I Shot You Babe by Leslie Langtry
Graceling by Krisin Cashore
Mercy Thompson: Homecoming (Graphic novel) Patricia Briggs. My age is showing here I think. When I was a kid I devoured comic books just as fast as the regular kind. (This was more than 50 years ago.) I found this book a bit disappointing. The story was OK, and I love the author's books but... Possibly it was the difference in style between multiple illustrators. Or may be just because that wasn't how I pictured Mercy. The tattoos Mercy had, which changed with the illustrator didn't help.
Fire by Krisin Cashore
The Finishing Touches by Hester Browne
The Tale of Applebeck Orchard by Susan Wittig Albert
By Katie Fforde (all re-reads except as noted)
Life Skills
Wild Designs
Restoring Grace
Second Thyme Around
Highland Fling
Statey Pursuits
Artistic License (new to me)
Bidding for Love
Tongue in Chic by Christina Dodd
Thirteen Orphans: Breaking the Wall by Jane Lindskold
Nine Gates : Breaking the Wall
Angel's Flight by Alice Duncan
The Secret Life of Bryan by Lori Foster
Truth or Dare by Jayne Ann Krentz
This has been cross posted at http://bookmobiler.livejournal.com/19984.html
This list is to long for blogspot tags see the LJ post

Catching up a little sooner
I'm posting this a little sooner than usual. Partly because I'm trying out a new posting tool. I hope it will make it easier to include authors links.
I'm not quite sure one of the Mercedes Lackey books but the rest are first time reads with some new and some favorite authors.
The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly Her web site is here: http://www.jacquelinekelly.com/ This is a YA book about an 11 year old girl growing up in small town Texas in 1899. She develops an interest in the world of nature and is aided by her grandfather, a veteran of the Civil War. A very good period piece
Talboys (short story) by Dorothy L Sayers. A brief return of Lord Peter, solving a mystery that involves his son. See the last post for Sayer's links,
Swan for the Money by Donna Andrews. A favorite author. This is her latest. Good mysteries often very funny with an interesting, if sometimes odd family. Her web site is here: http://donnaandrews.com/
The Case of the Missing Servant by Tarquin Hall His web site i9s here: http://tarquinhall.com/ In my last post I mentioned a mystery featuring Inspector Ghote. A mystery set in India. Ghote is a policeman. Vish Puri on the other hand is a PI living in a more modern India (best guess about 20 later) and in some way a more disturbing India.
The Nine Pound Hammer by John Claude Bemis This is another YA book but a fantasy loosely based on American folklore. The title refers to John Henry's hammer. The story takes place some years later and involves Henry's son although he's not the view point character. The authors web site is here: http://www.johnclaudebemis.com/
The Black Swan by Mercedes Lackey. Her web site is here: http://www.mercedeslackey.com/ This is a retelling of the Swan maidens tale.
Doom With a View by Victoria Laurie Her web site is here: http://victorialaurie.com/index.php You don't have to believe in psychics to enjoy these mysteries.
Sacred Ground by Mercedes Lackey See above for link. A story using elements of Native American folklore (principally Osage) to solve a modern mystery.

ETA:
The add on I was using is called Deepest Sender
. It seems to have worked very well. Since it works in a separate window I didn't have my usual problem of forgetting to change tabs before looking up links. LJ does recover (usually) but somethings, like tags disappear. Only complaint is I can't use Firefox's zoom capabilities. With my eye sight I often need it.This has been cross posted at Live Journal http://bookmobiler.livejournal.com/

Sigh! The Quarterly Update
I cant seem to get in the habit of posting immediately after I finish a book. That mean this post is again rather long.
Please note that in some case an authors books are listed together even if they were not necessarily read sequentially.
Persona Non Grata by Ruth Downie her web site is here: http://rsdownie.co.uk/

These books were read in order during my July vacation. I was struck again by how easy these books are to read. Rowlings web site is here: www.jkrowling.com/
Harry Potter Re-Reads (by J K Rowling)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,
....Chamber of Secrets,
....Prisoner of Azkaban,
....Goblet of Fire,
....Order of the Phoenix,

These books are all most all re-reads. I have a vague recollection that I couldn't find some of these the first time I started reading them. I couldn't tell you which though. It was a long time ago. I enjoyed reading them again. Fair warning. These books are set in the 1920's 30's and early 40's. They were also written during that time frame. That means the attitude of the characters towards people of color and other religions reflect the times. They are still very good detective stories. See here for more information www.sayers.org.uk/

The first two of these books by Toni McGee Causey are re-reads and reprints. These were read one after the other this time. I have to say that I preferred the original titles and art work. But these books are very funny. Her web site is here: www.tonimcgeecausey.com/ .
Charmed and Dangerous,
Girls Just Want to Have Guns,
When a Man Loves a Weapon
Running Hot by Jayne Ann Krentz. See link above.
Inspector Ghote's First Case by H R F Keating His web site is here: hrfkeating.com/ Rather confusingly this is his latest about Ghote, but is about Ghote's first case. A good read though.

More in a series! Oh Joy!
As usual I've let this list grow way to long. These books share two characteristics, they are usually by a favorite author and they are (not coincidentally) part of a series. Since the list is long I'm not sure how much I'll be commenting.
Too Many Curses by A Lee Martinez His web site is here: http://www.aleemartinez.com/ This is intended to be a comedic fantasy. It is funny in spots but the author suffers from a sever case of how-cute-can-I-get-itis. The last book I read by this author was the same way. The general story idea was great but one of the books curses is the details.
The High City by Cecelia Holland Her web site is here: http://www.thefiredrake.com/novels.html A favorite author who stopped writing for quite a while. A nicely detailed look at one of the better emperors who succeeded Constantine the Great.
Mischief 24/7 by Kasey Michaels. Her web site is here: http://www.kaseymichaels.com/ This is the last of the Sunshine girls mysteries. The eldest of the sisters brings the last two mysteries to a conclusion and copes with an ex-husband who still loves her. Note: there will almost certainly be a follow up story with the same characters. The original mystery is solved in this book.
Linda Lael Miller's new series Montana Creeds: Logan. Her web site is here: http://www.lindalaelmiller.com/ Logan's back home to put down roots and live down the Creed reputation. A divorcée with two young boys looks like a good bet for the roots part but then her ex shows up.
Dead and Berried by Karen MacInerney Her web site is here: http://www.karenmacinerney.com/ The second of three Gray Whale Inn mystery, read out of order. That meant dealing with spoilers mentioned in the third book. Still a good read though.
Espresso Shot by Cleo Coyle, Her web site is here: http://www.coffeehousemystery.com/ Another Coffee House mystery. Clare gets her ex-married off, but its a struggle to keep somebody from offing the bride. Just goes to show: enough caffeine can solve anything.
Imager by L E Modesitt, Jr His web site is here: http://www.lemodesittjr.com/ An new fantasy series by this author. I like some of his work but not others. This was an enjoyable read even if parts of the dialog were a little to agenda driven.
A Body to Die For by G A McKevett. This is a pen name for Sonja Massie. Her web page is here: http://www.sonjamassie.com/ As McKevett she has a mySpace page here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=87573272 This is a Savannah Reid mystery. A quirky cast of favorite characters. Savannah has plenty of Southern charm but if that wont work she'll slap you side of the head with her gun.
Crystal Soldier and Crystal Dragon by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller Their web site is here: http://www.korval.com/ Re-reads of prequels, literally, to the Liaden universe.
A Face in the Window by Sarah Graves. A mystery set in Eastport, Maine. Graves web site is here: http://www.randomhouse.com/bantamdell/graves/index.html An exotic local this isn't, but very good stories. Much darker than most of the series but enjoyable reading.
Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce Her web site is here: http://www.tamora-pierce.com/ This is the second of her books about Becca Cooper. Rated as YA but don't let that stop you from reading both books.
Revenge of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz. Her web site is here: http://lisalutz.com/ Those wacky Spellmans are back. Proving once again that the family that detects together is in serious trouble.
Grave Goods by Ariana Franklin. Her web site is here: http://www.arianafranklin.com/ This is the third in the Mistress of the Art of Death series. A fascinating time in history, an engaging heroine and an English King, Henry II who really needs Arthur to be dead.
Among the Mad by Jacqueline Winspear. Her web site is here: http://www.jacquelinewinspear.com/
Another in the Maise Dobb's stories. Life moves on for Maise even as a spectacular suicide is the start of serious trouble for London. Terrorists are NOT a new thing.
The September Society by Charles Finch His web site is here: http://www.charles-finch.com/ A mystery set in mid-Victorian England. A good mystery and a likeable hero.
The Dangerous Book for DemonSlayers by Angela Fox Her web page is here: http://angiefox.wordpress.com/ Supernatural mayhem and fun. Don't take this book seriously. Just seriously enjoy it.
The Forthcoming Wizard by Jody Lynn Nye Her web site is here: http://www.sff.net/people/JodyNye/ The second book about wizard in training Tildi. A smallfolk who is neither small of heart or power. A Maker is searching for the Book. Will he find it before Tildi and her friends find him.
Storm Glass by Maria V Snyder Her web site is here: http://www.mariavsnyder.com/ This is set in the same world of magic as the Study series but with a different focus character. Glass has many magical properties.
Storm from the Shadows by David Weber He doesn't really have a web site. This is essentially a list of his books available from Baen: http://www.baen.com/author_catalog.asp?author=DWeber
This is an Honorverse book. That is, its set in the same universe with many of the same characters as the Honor Harrington series. She does make some brief appearances but this book focuses on Michele "Mike" Henke, and the thickening Manpower plot. (Note if you've not been keeping track this is only the 5th male author on this list.)
Undone by Rachel Caine This is her web site. http://www.rachelcaine.com/Home.html This is set in her weather warden universe. It focuses on different characters and seems to be running parallel to Ill Wind. A new series, a good read, but seriously now a pink haired, albino, former djinn biker chick?.
This has been cross posted at Live Journal http://bookmobiler.livejournal.com/18789.html
Magic of various types and murder
The Magic of Reason by Justine Larbalestier.
A SFBC omnibus edition containing
Magic or Madness
Magic Lessons
Magic's Child
The story is set mostly in Australia and New York City and told in alternate POV's from Australian and New Yorker's magic users. Her web site is here: http://justinelarbalestier.com/
Tiger Moon by Antonia Michaelis translated from German by Anthea Bell
A tale of India still under British rule. Not about the Great Game. All I could find is her publishers site: http://www.loewe-verlag.de/rights/author-1215_michaelis_antonia.html
Murder most Maine by Karen MacInerney A "cozy" mystery set in Maine with the obligatory (but this time diet conscious) recipes. This is the third in a series and a good read. But I'm bummed because I somehow missed the second in the series. Since a lot of the appeal of "cozies" is local and, character development and continuity I've missed some of the fun. They can be read any of order but I prefer not to. The web site is here: http://www.karenmacinerney.com/
Ghouls Just Haunt To Have Fun by Victoria Laurie. A good read but no more believable than the first two in the series. The web site is here: http://victorialaurie.com/index.php
This has been cross posted at Live Journal http://bookmobiler.livejournal.com/ and eBolgger http://readingaddiction-bookmobiler.blogspot.com/

Reading Non-stop - January to March
I've been binge reading again. That, laziness and a January/February cold mean I haven't kept up with the posting.

Not too many comments and I'm only going to tag the authors.
Soft Focus by Jayne Ann Krentz Web site here:http://www.krentz-quick.com/
The Lost Recipe for Happiness by Barbara O'Neal. Web site here: http://www.barbaraoneal.com/ A very good romance with a restaurant theme.

First Truth
Hidden Truth
Forgotten Truth
Lost Truth
Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson) The fourth in a very good series. It's set in the modern world where the creatures of the Fae are "coming out of the closet."

The Clockwork Teddy by John J Lamb His web site is here: www.johnjlamb.net/index.shtml Fourth in a series
Boomtown by Nowen n Particular (Marty Longe) The web site is here: www.visitboomtown.com/nowen-n-particular/about_nowen.htm A YA book You probably wont like the narrator but the book is quirky fun.
Trouble in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon Her web site is here janadeleon.com/about-jana-deleon.html This isn't exactly your normal paranormal romance. But it is a fun read.
Like a Charm by Candace Havens Her web site is here: www.candacehavens.com/ A more traditional paranormal romance.
Into the Flame by Christina Dodd Her web site is here: www.candacehavens.com/ Another paranormal. This is the last of a series. I haven't read the others and probably wont. Not because this was a bad book, but because I know how it ends.
Re-reads
By Wen Spencer Her web site is here: www.wenspencer.com/ This series has really creepy evil aliens and very human good aliens. But that's over simplification. A favorite author.
Alien Taste
Tainted Trail
Bitter Waters
Dog Warrior
Re-reads
Dragons Wild by Robert Asprin The web page for his most famous series is here: www.mythadventures.net/ He died last year. There is a memorial page linked from this link. Another sort of dragon. Not played for laughs but a good story.
By Steven Havill (Posadas County Mysteries) The author doesn't seem to have a web site. This site has some information and a list of books. www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/h/steven-f-havill/ A police procedural set in New Mexico's Mexican border region. The first listed is a re-read. I lost track. :)
A Discount for Death
The Fourth Time is Murder
This has been cross posted at http://bookmobiler.livejournal.com/

What I was reading in December of 2008 and so far this year
I've gotten behind with the posting again. The books are presented more or less in the order. Comments will be minimal (unless they aren't
The Tale of Briar Bank by Susan Wittig Albert (The Cottage tales of Beatrix Potter) The web site is here: http://www.cottagetales.com/index. A mystery series with Beatrix Potter as the sleuth. (Yes, that Beatrix Potter.) These could be classified as historical?mystery/fantasy stories. They are also casually biographical too. Beatrix solves mysteries through her observational skill and clear thinking, the animals talk to each other at least and small village life goes on. The whole series has been a very good read.
My library got a little confused and actually cataloged this book as juvenile.
The Seductive One by Susan Mallery. The third of the Marcelli sisters, the one who loves the wine making business has her story told. The web site is here: http://www.susanmallery.com/index.php
The next six books are all re-reads of paperback regency romances. With one exception they are all Christmas themed which was a deliberate choice on my part. I wanted to get in the mood.
The Christmas Matchmaker by Jeanne Savery She has a blog on her publisher web site here: http://cerridwenpressauthors.blogspot.com/search?q=Jeanne+Savery There doesn't appear to be a web site specific to her.
His Lordship's Holiday Surprise by Kate Huntington Her web site is here: http://www.theromanceclub.com/authors/katehuntington/ It hasn't been updated in a long while.
Midnight Clear by Karen King Her web site is here: http://www.karenlking.com/
A Viscount For Christmas by Catherine Blair Her web site is here: http://home.versatel.nl/Gracyegan/home.html
Ask Jane by Victoria Hishaw Aside from listings on Amazon I could not find any web site for this author.
A Yuletide Treasure by Cynthia Pratt She has a very sparse web presence here: http://www.cynthiapratt.com/
A Royal Pain by Rhys Bowen (A Royal Spyness Mystery Bowens web site is here: http://www.rhysbowen.com/ The second in a new series. A fun read. In this story you encounter the future Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Can't Take My Eyes Off of You by Kasey Michaels Her web site is here: http://www.kaseymichaels.com/ This was a re-read. A rich girl tries to escape her fate. Fortunately her fate is a very good detective.
Bedtime For Bonsai by Elaine Fox Her web site is here: http://www.elainefox.com/ The last of her Guys & Dogs series. Rating: 3 1/2 wagging tails.
Princess Ben by Catherine Gilbert Murdock A YA book. The authors web site is here: http://www.catherinemurdock.com/ This is a good book that stands a couple of fairy tale conventions on their head. This is one princess who doesn't need rescuing.
Paradise Fields by Katie Fforde This was a re-read. Her web site is here: http://www.katiefforde.com/
Mostly because she hasn't kept up with my desire to read more new books by her.
Fledgling and Saltation by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller These two books are web serialized rough drafts about Theo Waitley that are set in the authors Liaden Universe. The portal for that universe can be found here: http://www.korval.com/liad.htm. Both serials are finished, Saltation just recently. The can be found on line here: http://www.korval.com/fledgling/ for Fledgling. And here for Saltation http://www.korval.com/saltation/ Both will eventually be published by Baen. Read and enjoy.
Sharp Edges by Jayne Ann Krentz Her web site is here: http://www.krentz-quick.com/ Why would anybody say anything is as clear as glass?
Mischief becomes her by Kasey Michaels Her web site is here: http://www.kaseymichaels.com/ The second in the Sunshine girls mystery series. Cold cases make for hot love.
Melting Stones by Tamora Pierce Her web site is here: http://www.tamora-pierce.com/ A YA book in her Circle universe. A good story of special interest because it was first written to be an audio book. It was latter published in book form.
1635 The Dreeson Incident by Eric Flint and Virginia DeMarce. The 1632 website is here: http://1632.org/. Eric's web site is here: http://www.ericflint.net/ Virginia doesn't appear to have a web site but does have a wikipedia listing here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_DeMarce This is another book in the Ring of Fire series created by Flint. Don't get me wrong this is a good book, but... The story is more than usually convoluted. Almost as bad as the genealogy of Grantville. Do not start your reading of the series here!
Dragon Flight by Jessica Day George Her web site is here: http://www.jessicadaygeorge.com/default.aspx This is the sequel to Dragon Slippers, both YA and both very good. An interesting heroine and world.
The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J K Rowling Her web site is here: http://www.jkrowling.com/ What can I say. Fairy tales for wizards with commentary by Dumbledore. And for a very good cause too.
This is being cross posted at Live Journal http://bookmobiler.livejournal.com/ and Blogspot http://readingaddiction-bookmobiler.blogspot.com/.
The tag list wont let me list all of these:
